Schaaf HQ, tax abatement approved by council

A new building for Westfield-based Schaaf CPA Group and a tax abatement for the property was approved unanimously by the Westfield City Council during its May 11 meeting.
Westfield-based Schaaf CPA Group will construct an accounting office at 302 N. Union St., a few blocks from its current office at 111 N. Union St. It will be built on vacant land between the Westfield Playhouse and Christ United Methodist Church. The approved proposal includes plans for a possible second building later.
The two-story building with 9,000 square feet of space was originally presented to the council during its March 23 meeting and was later given a favorable recommendation by the Advisory Plan Commission.
