2025 LIV Golf Economic Impact Report
4 Feb 2026
In August of 2025, many of the world’s best golfers arrived in Westfield for a thrilling event that crowned the LIV Golf individual champion. The action on the course came down to the wire and ended with Jon Rahm hoisting the trophy at The Club at Chatham Hills. While Rahm had plenty of reasons to celebrate, so did the City of Westfield based on what transpired over the course of the event. As we prepare for the 2026 LIV Tour’s return, the Westfield Economic Development Department believes it is important to reflect on how last year’s event benefitted our community and the surrounding area.
Attendance
Attendees at last year’s event were affluent, well-educated, and family-oriented, with a median age of 36 and heavy representation across prime earning age groups (25–54), aligning well with Westfield’s premium dining, lodging, retail, and housing markets. In addition:
- There were more than 60,000 attendees over the course of the event, making it the largest domestic LIV event to date; and
- Placer.ai identified approximately 8,000 additional visitors in neighborhoods surrounding Chatham Hills over the three-day event, compared to a typical weekend baseline of 600–700.
Economic Activity
Hamilton County Sports Authority estimates there was $23.6 million in direct local economic activity generated by LIV Golf Indianapolis. These figures include:
- Nearly 70% of spending from out-of-state visitors, bringing new dollars into Westfield; and
- A net positive return, with more than $1.19 million in combined state revenue recovered against a $500,000 bid investment, before accounting for long-term tourism, branding, and repeat-visit benefits
Lodging
LIV Golf Indianapolis drew a strong local and regional audience. Travel and tourism data also show that the event drove a substantial surge in overnight visitation, reflecting the real demand for hotels, short-term rentals, and extended stays tied to high-quality destinations. This includes:
- 28.4K overnight trips (+23.9% year-over-year); and
- 72.1K visit nights (+26.3% year-over-year).
Spending
Visitor flow data shows clear pre- and post-event activity across Westfield, demonstrating that major events activate the broader local economy and not just the venue itself. This impact includes:
- Approximately $278,538 in tracked, visitor-related spending during the period, with an average spend of $76.50 per trip; and
- A 97-minute average dwell time at the tournament, with visitor flow analysis showing meaningful pre- and post-event spending at local restaurants, hotels, convenience stores, and entertainment venues, indicating clear spillover benefits beyond the course itself.
Media Exposure
Beyond on-site attendance, LIV Golf generated more than $245 million in estimated media and broadcast exposure tied to Westfield. With nearly 426,000 Sunday viewers, the event positioned Westfield as a nationally competitive host community, creating awareness that compounds well beyond a single weekend. Consider:
- A total of 932 articles generated $30.4 million in advertising value equivalency, with strong organic social engagement tied to Westfield content; and
- Media and broadcast exposure associated with the event exceeded $245 million in estimated value, including written, online, and broadcast coverage, significantly amplifying Westfield’s visibility at a national and international level
We are thrilled with the response to LIV Golf Indianapolis in 2025, and we are excited to see an even greater impact in 2026 as this event continues to grow.
