500-acre ‘agrihood’ proposed in Westfield

Plans for a proposed 500-acre “agrihood” development were introduced to the Westfield City Council Aug. 24, calling for a mixed-use development comprising about 1,000 homes — a blend of single-family attached and detached homes and multifamily dwellings — along with some commercial use.
About 200 acres of the proposed Hidden Oaks Planned Unit Development would be set aside for open space and greenway areas, including tree preservation, wildflower plantings, water features, a dog park and multiuse trails that connect to existing public trails.
The property, owned by the Lang Family Farm Trust, is next to Ind. 32 and 166th Street, west of Little Eagle Creek. The Lang family is working with LOR Corp. on development plans.
